Keeping Contentment

Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, "I will never leave you nor forsake you." So we can confidently say, "The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?"   Hebrews 13:5-6 
I'm incredibly thankful that the Holy Scriptures speak so directly and clearly to our lives, when we have the eyes to see and the ears to hear, solely by God's grace. These words in Hebrews first admonish us to intentionally live in such a way as to point our affections toward Jesus alone, not toward earthly things that will inevitably fail to fulfill us.

I love the action word "keep." It reminds me that I not only choose to avoid things, but I also choose to pursue things...I put my eyes, thoughts, emotional energy, time, money and hands on certain things.
